Abstract
The main aim of the present contribution is to investigate how the Heideggerian perspective of «phenomenological hermeneutics» can offer a valid interpretation for the redefinition of the status of the work of art. The path traced is centered on the concept of «phenomenology of the inapparent» and, focusing its attention on the theme of the Ereignis (Event), finally identifies the work of Barnett Newman and his idea of the «sublime» – first of all through the reading proposed by J.-F. Lyotard – a possible pictorial concretization of the speculative questions addressed.
