Abstract
The essay examines four passages of Boccaccio's "Expositions on Dante's «Comedy»" in which he talks about Rome and some of its features, focusing on their possible sources and their relations with other texts; the passages taken into account concern the pride of Rome, the cooks in ancient Rome, the scum of Rome, and the obelisk in St. Peter's square.
