Abstract
The essay describes the semantic-textual values of "finalmente", by a synchronic and diachronic point of view. By studying some documents taken from various diachronical "corpora" of written italian (DiaCORIS, MIDIA, Google books), the article analyses the contemporary "finalmente" trying to describe how its original neutral meaning, or "semantically empty" (corresponding to the present "infine") was affected by a process of "subjectification", which has caused his loss over time (as the suggestive title reveals).
