Abstract
The paper analyses the language of "Il poeta di teatro" ("The theatre poet"), the most important work of Filippo Pananti, comparing the four editions that the author published and taking into account some the phonetics, morphology and lexicon of the first Italian edition of the work (1817). The analysis reveals the importance of Pananti, usually considered a minor author, for his influence both on the history of the Italian language, and in particular for the vocabulary he adopted in this work.
