Abstract
The period between 1944 and 1945 is a period full of “chaotic and fruitful editorial and intellectual fervorµ, according to Gian Carlo Ferretti’s definition, during which publishers large and small – in a complex network between Italy and places of exile – try new approaches for the renewal of Italian literature. The series of “Narratori contemporaneiµ Einaudi is one of the most interesting case studies in this regard: launched in 1941, dismissed in 1947 with twenty-two titles, merged into the more fortunate and long-lived “Coralliµ, they well represent what it meant to publish books in Italy in those difficult years.
