Abstract
The study focuses on the representation of historical events and personalities. Two samples of Italians and Swiss students were asked to list the most important historical events and personalities. Results showed a shared representation of history, which emphasizes recent events, most of them judged as negative. However, such a general view is influenced by respondents' categorical memberships. Indeed, gender, citizenship, and political orientation biases emerged.
