Abstract
Regulatory focus theory (Higgins, 1997) distinguishes two different types of focus (promotion and prevention) that can be interpreted in terms of interindividual differences as they define different ways of conceiving and pursuing the success. The article describes useful tools to gather information about individuals' characteristics of focus. Advantages coming from the fit between organizational and individual regulatory focus are discussed in areas of job content, process management, leadership style, communication and feedback management, and goal setting.
