Abstract
The importance of virtual communication in social and working context is the core of this review. Following a brief overview of the principal themes of the theories, this article examines the ways in which Internet groups function, analyzing the fields where most of the researches act. This analysis looks at the different areas of the social psychology of groups: structure, norms identity and performance. The review ends showing the main conceptual and methodological issues of the researches in this area.
