Abstract

Active labor market policies ( ALMP s) have seen a strong development in the last decades across the vast majority of western countries. Italy has undergone a similar process, however, until the last decade the existing ALMP s remained largely implemented at the regional level. Processes of centralization are ongoing, as well as the creation of a body of ALMP s operating at the national scale, but these are still in their initial phases. Therefore, the role of the regional administrations in ALMP s remains relevant. This paper illustrates the effects of a successful ALMP implemented in the Region of Piedmont, named «Buono per servizi al lavoro». This study aims to contribute to the debate on ALMP s, and presents a series of policy insights relevant on regional and national scales.
