Abstract
Italy is traditionally portrayed as an Euroenthusiast country, but even as a laggard one in respect to its compliance record. Whereas very little remains of the permissive consensus exhibited by Italian citizens until the '80s, it is yet to be demonstrated that our country has entered a new period in its relationship with the European Union. This article comments on the major features of the Italian EU policy while sketching the recent evolution of its political arena vis-à-vis European integration.
