Citizens engagement in the co-production of public services is becoming increasingly important to stimulate a participatory democracy. In this context, the results of a pilot experience of civic evaluation carried out by the Italian Public Administration Department are presented. The work was done in collaboration with the association Cittadinanzattiva and the involvement of several local municipalities as well as the active co-production of citizens. The article, starting from this pilot experience, analyzes the positive and critical features of this participative process and tries to define some general indications that have to be tackled in a proper co-production initiative.
