Abstract
The principle of legal certainty has not been codified; however it is one of the fundamental principles of law in the Netherlands. The purpose of this article is to identify the role and application of the principle of legal certainty in the Dutch legal system. To this end, an analysis has been made of the use of this principle by the legislature, as well as by case law, with particular reference to that of the Supreme Court
