Abstract
The article adopts the judgment "Favela Nova Brasilia v. Brazil" of 16th February 2017 as a starting point to examine the IACtHR case-law on right to justice and right to personal integrity, in cases of failure to investigate episodes of violence involving police or State agents. The analysis of the relevant case-law brings to consider also other general issues, e.g. interpretation of the ACHR, the influence of ECHR on human rights standards, and the contents and features of reparations decided by the Court of San José.
