Abstract
The "Almum Studium Papiense" saw gradual changes in teaching methodologies between the 1500s and 1600s. The persistence with, and consolidation of, old teaching methodologies was marked by teaching which also featured a progressive scientific interest and pronounced curiosity for old-new sources. These were capable of giving new blood to the interpretation of centuries-old texts, reinterpreted in light of new stimuli originating from an ever broader juridical horizon. Names of professors of high and extremely high fame alternate with those of the less renowned: the resulting general picture is rich in chiaroscuro, but reveals a lively cultural life proving worthy of an in-depth historiographic study which, on a wide scale, still has to be carried out.
