Abstract
This paper begins by rebutting a series of assertions made in an article written by Armando Fumagalli on the ethics of the media and the representation of homosexuality (Bettetini and Fumagalli 2010, 224-246). This prompts a reflection on the methods used to qualify academic research in the field of film and media studies, directly in relation to the question of the assessment and validation of such research in the humanities more widely.
