Abstract
"Last Tango in Paris"' novelization was written by Robert Alley and published by Garzanti in 1973. This novel, due to the infamous court case the film was involved in, has been often seen as an effort to fill any gap left by «the absence of the audio-visual text» (Mancino 2015). The novel, though, refers directly to the original American version of the film; therefore its «strongest aim» appears to involve further functions of «compensation» and «control» (Quaresima 2004), which are worth being explored.
