Abstract
Content creators on YouTube and TikTok are gradually changing the methods of production and use of audiovisual texts on a discursive, narrative and metanarrative level, following a logic that tends towards media convergence and intermediality. Starting from a selection of case studies, we explore the emergence of recurring codes and formats of the audiovisual content posted on these platforms. We focus our inquiry on aspects concerning the representation of everyday life in the media highlighting how linguistic elements act as centerpieces in processes of recognition, identity construction, and on the ways in which they are transposed outside the media experience.
