"Ontologyµ, "Tinologyµ and the Theory of Objects. Plato and Meinong on Non- being and Negation

  • Abstract

Informations and abstract

Keywords: Plato, Meinong, Ontology, Tinology, Non-Being, Negation.

My aim in this article is to compare the notions of non-being and negation that emerge in the context of the ontological conception of Plato’s Sophist and the tinological conception outlined in Meinong’s Gegenstandstheorie. It will be shown how, although in different philosophical perspectives, Plato and Meinong adopt a similar strategy towards the problem of non-being that leads to similar results.
