Abstract

Beyond the limits of the representation, thought and judgment can both refer to non-existent objects or to extra-being objects and get to objectively valid truths; beyond the opposition of realism and idealism it is possible to elaborate a new conception of the relation between thought and object. From this prospect, Kant and Meinong can hold a dialogue on imagination and assumption, on the meaning of the ‘object in general’, on existence and nothing, on the role of the judgment in cognition, and on the functions of thought.
