Abstract
The paper aims to discuss Brian McGuinness’ interpretation of some theses developed by Wittgenstein in the gestation period of the Tractatus. The main sources of inspiration for this work are to be found, according to McGuinness, in the domains of the logic, probability and ethics, in particular in the revision of Russell’s logic, in the Wittgensteinian version of the concept of probability and in the critique of the existence of ethical “propositionsµ. These three themes are critically analysed in the context of the Tractarian perspective and in the connection of their developments in the middle and later phase of Wittgenstein’s thought
