Abstract
According to perceptual symbol system theory this paper investigates the role of a new signification mechanism in the evolution of human cognitive mosaic of traits. In this perspective, the construction of concepts taken from the domain of perceptions is not considered as a linguistic prerogative, but as a skill able to find a field of application in technical ability. Considering that part of the cognitive mosaic from the point of view of mechanisms that implement it, the paper highlights how recent neuroscientific models about semantic representation lean for a distributed localization of semantic information in which each modal component is linked to the format in which it is stored.
