Abstract

Fear has been the object of a constant attention in western political and philosophical thought. For many centuries it has been conceived of as one of the main constituents of politics as well as one of the principal basis for the institution of the State. That is why it seems useful today to re-think of it and of its role in the global society. The study tries to afford this question referring to the contribution given to this theme by Günther Anders. His analysis of XX century reality has been assumed as a good starting point for a new approach to the subject of the interrelation of politics and emotions because of its original focusing on the need for an active role of fear and on the usefulness of fostering fantasy and imagination.
