Abstract
This article helps retrieve a .history form the margins. of the Egyptian Marxist movement before the .setback. of the June War of 1967 which illustrates the complex and often paradoxical reality of the relationship between Egypt's Marxists and Nasser: while they ultimately accepted to contribute to create the image of Nasser as icon of the Arab Progressive and anti-imperialist struggle, Nasser himself was always too suspicious to allow them any real influence on his regime's supposedly progressive politics.
