Abstract
Richard Hofstadter’s concept of paranoid style has been extremely influential in the study of conspiracy theories, shaping the field and the representation of conspiratorial discourse in the social sciences. Almost 60 years after its first publication, this contribution aims to investigate the applicability of the main argument of The Paranoid Style in American Politics in the contemporary political landscape, through complementary theoretical perspectives and reflecting on the recent phenomenon of flat earth theories
