Abstract
The paper publishes and analyses some texts by Francesco Bracciolini chosen from his as-yet-unpublished papers. Such are the sonnet Dalla mortal presonzione il varco (dedicated to Agostino Mascardi’s Arte istorica); the canzone Quando la vaga Flora il suo bel volto (on the occasion of Maffeo Barberini’s French mission); the canzone Tosto che risonò fama verace (on Barberini’s election to the cardinalate); the sonnet Or che d’intorno ogni vicina parte (about the dramatic moments of the sack of Mantua and the diffusion of the pestilence in Central and Northern Italy). These documents reveal how Bracciolini’s courtly attitudes were still practical, altough they appeared worn-out. At the same time, they better highlight the relationship of the author with the Barberini family.
