Abstract
This article provides the list of books lent out by Carlo Ghisilieri (c. 1400-1467?), a notable Bolognese citizen whose ‘ricordi’ list the people who borrowed several of his manuscripts between the end of 1426 and October 1467. The study presents a complete edition of Ghisilieri’s notes about these borrowings. Introductory comments consider the books Ghisilieri owned, his circle of contacts in Bologna (including high-profile individuals such as Gaspare Sighicelli and Leon Battista Alberti), several individuals’ patterns of borrowing, and what alternative circuits there were in Bologna for obtaining books. Ghisilieri’s notes point to a large library, formed especially of humanistic and literary works
