Abstract
Through an analysis of the text on the basis of the manuscript tradition and comparison among the critical editions, this article proposes a reflection on the reading τοὺς πεποιθότας ἐπὶ χρήμασιν which is the reading in "q.d.s." 4,9, within the quotation of Mk 10,24. We are convinced that the reading in question belongs to the Marcan Gospel which Clement possessed. Conversely, we do not believe that it was Clement himself who intervened in the gospel pericope, adjusting the text in order to emphasise that not all the rich would be excluded from the kingdom of God unconditionally but, rather, those who “trusted in their richesµ.
