Abstract

The contribution draws attention to the fact that in the words eivj th.n evmh.n avna,mnhsin, pronounced by Jesus at the Last Supper, (1Cor 11:23­24; Lk 22:19­20), translated into Latin as "in meam commemorationem" and thus entered the Canon of the Mass of Paul VI, the adjective with article th.n evmh.n /"meam" indicates possession. It indicates in an emphatical way the "anàmnesis" that "belongs" to Christ, the memorial through which he speaks and acts in history, not the memory that is made of "him". This fact highlights the importance of the Lord’s intentionality, which qualifies all the elements and aspects of the liturgical celebration. On this basis, it becomes necessary to correct some wrong translations in the editions of the Missals in various languages.
