Abstract
This essay aims to provide Ungaretti’s “third stepµ: in this period he publishes some of the major works – Il Dolore, La Terra promessa –, but also translations and essays. Some letters of young intellectuals sent to Ungaretti and preserved at Fondo Ungaretti (Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Rome) are here analysed. These letters show the role of Maestro and cultural mediator held by Ungaretti after the Second World War, in an extremely delicate and complex period of Twentieth-century Literature.
