Abstract
Starting from the literary and critical texts of his late maturity – in particular, L’alba di un mondo nuovo (2002), Machiavelli e l’Italia (2019), L’eroe virile ovvero Trilogia della sconfitta (2021) – the article retraces the intellectual lesson of Alberto Asor Rosa in the light of the concept of «late style» (according to the definition of E. W. Said).
