Abstract

The essay examines the meaning of the Italian impersonal expression mi sa, through the analysis of its definitions in the main dictionaries, and defining the expansion of its usage in colloquial Italian, in which it is used as a synonymous of I think / I believe. The professor in History of Italian language L. Serianni also gives a wide documentation of examples mostly taken from novels and journalistic texts.
