Abstract
In his essay - Il castello dei destini incrociati. Per un approccio mediologico a una trilogia incompiuta (The Castle of Crossed Destinies. A Media Studies Approach to a Never-completed Trilogy) - Fabio Di Pietro develops a critical analysis of Calvino's project of a new trilogy. Castello is followed by Taverna while he never went through the last novel - Motel. The essay retraces this creative path from a media studies perspective highlighting material and symbolic mediations of Calvino's work. The Author's basic insight emerges from a comprehensive review of Calvino's critical essays and secondary literature: Calvino's intellectual and literary approach cannot be taken apart from his sound interpretation of the literary phenomenon and related communicative function in sociological and anthropological terms.
