Abstract

The paper examines the receptive path of Calvino's works in China through the course of two different lines: the first follows the course of Calvino's translations from the earliest publication (Italian folktales, Our Ancestors) in the mid-eighties until the latest editions of his complete works (2001-2012); the second line, however, traces the influence of Calvino on the Chinese literary experimentation in the second half of the eighties and the great attention which Chinese critics and writers devoted to Calvino at the end of the Nineties, to the point that it becomes possible to talk of Calvino "fever" in China.
