Abstract
The essay deals with Attilio Frescura's "Diario di un imboscato" and with the aspects that make this book (one of the most successful examples of Italian WWI testimonial texts) a sort of articulate and wide presentation of Italy as a nation involved in the WWI. The essay is particularly focused on the different situations the journal's records tell, on the various (oral or written) witness accounts inserted in the book; and it also studies the relationship between soldiers and civilians.
