Abstract
The essay gives an account of the texts which hand down a sixteen century tale, belonging to two different literary traditions: on the one hand tragic and elegiac literature (Betussi 1544 and Doni 1544), on the other hand historiography (Alessandro Ceccherelli 1564). Explores the Florentine Palatino 699 text authorship, illustrating a picture of some scholars's different positions. Considers "Quattro novelle di M. Alessandro Ceccherelli e due di M. Giuseppe Betussi" (1854), an indicative edition for a likely link between the 1544 two works and the Ceccherelli's one.
