Abstract

On the bases of the researches in the Archives of the gallerist Stefano Cairola in Siena and in the Archive of the painter Lia Pasqualino Noto in Palermo, this article rebuilds the relationship between the artistic environment of Palermo and the national one in the 1940s. The article also deals with the tricky matter of female role in the artistic milieu of the period, through a curious and interesting episode of exchange of identity between the painter Lia Pasqualino Noto and her husband Guglielmo, on the occasion of an exposition organized by Stefano Cairola.
