Abstract
The digital environment today is the discursive space where the vertical dimension of specialized language converges with the horizontality of mediated communication. The RAE’s (Royal Spanish Academy) digital linguistic consultation platforms represent the ideal space of enunciation in which the Academy exercises its role as the enunciator of linguistic norms through grammatical discourse. This paper is framed within the traditional theoretical framework of studies on specialized languages. It draws on recent contributions to the analysis of digital discourses in the public and institutional domains, aiming to contribute to the debate on the effectiveness of resources for improving linguistic skills in the digital environment. Based on a representative corpus of reactive messages collected from the RAE’s Twitter – X account, the article analyzes the metalanguage used to formulate linguistic norms. It considers the procedures of paraphrastic reformulation, the role of parenthetical positioning of explanatory statements, and their meta-discursive function.
