Abstract
The present paper through a philological thoroughness analyses the use of writing the word "fortune" with a capital "F" or small "f" in the course of time. The simple change of a graphic sign is evidence of the importance of the generative power of writing; a world of symbolic meanings is hidden behind only one letter, which puts you in touch with the social, cultural and economic history of the time.
