Abstract
During the Renaissance, Lucca and its Republic saw the construction of numerous buildings with a central plan, often of Florentine inspiration. Starting from the illustrious example of the Tempietto del Volto Santo, by Matteo Civitali, the article analyses the most significant of these constructions, establishing interesting parallels with non-Tuscan architectural ambits, such as that of Urbino, represented by the architect Muzio Oddi.
