Abstract
The contribution traces the critical success of Madonna orante in the Cathedral of Otranto (LE). A reading of the unpublished archive sources and a recapitulation of the studies on the fifteenth-century wooden sculpture in Verona will lead us to bring the sculpture of Otranto, a Madonna praying the Child resting on her, in the artistic environment of Verona at the end of the century between Giovanni Zebellana and Antonio Giolfino. As we will say, given the proximity of contacts and relationships, we do not neglect the Venetian suggestions coming from the Dalmatian land, to which Otranto is linked in these centuries. It is hoped that the possibility of new acquisitions will open up new research scenarios
