Abstract

A brief presentation of an important finding for the second half Nineteenth century art studies. The Michele Cammarano's complete autobiography, which is believed lost for a long time, is presented here through a significant passage on the painter Andrea Cefaly and his patriotic cenacolo in pre-unity Naples. The painter's memories are an exemplar source that give us an original portrait of a dense historical and artistic season, from his childhood to the 1870. After this rediscovery, a scientific edition of the two volumes, until now directly studied only by Michele Biancale in the Nineteen-thirties, is upcoming by the author.
