Abstract
Denmark did not occupy a prominent place among the great colonizing powers. Analyzing the Danish colonial model, however, different points of contamination with the great colonial empires can be seen. The "Gardelins slavereglement" of 5 September 1733, enacted by Philip Gardelin, governor of the island of St. Thomas, is one of the most tangible signs of such hybridization. A slave Code issued in a country with no tradition in slaves legislation.
