Abstract
The revolt of Esquilache in 1766 is generally considered the starting point of the great reforms of the public order in Madrid which have profoundly marked the urban space. This article presents the results of the ongoing research about a first set of 18th C. reforms which left their mark in the urban space. Between the household and the city, the militarization of the royal guard under Philip V has been an unfinished experimentation of reorganization of the security services in Madrid.
