Abstract

This article analyses the impact of the pandemics on the Italian welfare system and, more specifically, the implications in terms of income support. After an examination of the instruments put in place by the Italian government to support workers’ incomes in the midst of the crisis – highlighting strengths and weaknesses of the current income support institutional set-up – the key pillars of a reform aimed at strengthening the Italian income support tools is outlined.
