Abstract
Against the backdrop of the pandemic atmosphere, the article addresses online sociability/sociality and the dark side of the web, wherefrom disinformation and fake news have originated. Social distancing has resulted in a reshuffling of sociability and revamped community while at the same time accruing to social capital within horizontal relations. On one hand, sociability has undergone a positive restructuring, on the other hand, the transformation undergone by the public sphere, through the viral aspects of the web along with the dangerous combination of disinformation and some propensities of the human mind, has paved the way to the proliferation of fake news
