Abstract
This article takes a socio-historical look at the impact of dictatorship and authoritarian neo-liberalism on Chilean society, examines the relationship between hegemonic consensus and social conflict in the democratic ‘transition’ from 1990 onwards, and finally looks at the ‘fissures’ and recompositions underway within the Chilean political regime, starting with the social revolt of 2019.
