Abstract
Salvador Allende’s victory in the presidential elections of September 4, 1970 paved the way for the construction of the “chilean way to socialismµ, an authentically democratic, popular, peaceful revolution which aimed at the emancipation of the human being and the full affirmation of the rights of peoples. Lelio Basso, founder of the Institute for the study of contemporary society (ISSOCO) was interested in the Chilean transition and established intense collaborative relationships with representatives of the Unidad Popular government and with research institutes.
