Abstract

In the international context, there are many experiences about the collaboration between Primary Care and Psychology. In Italy, this cooperation is promoted by the School of Specialization in Health Psychology of the Sapienza University of Rome, which has been performing an experimental protocol in this area since 2000. In a recent publication the practice reports (n = 564) of 4 psychologists, who participated to this experimental protocol between 2008-10, has been reported by Solano (2011). In this study 516 reports related to the interventions carried out in co-presence by the physician and the psychologist were selected in order to understand the dimensions organizing the narrations. They underwent a text analysis performed with a computer software package (T-Lab) through a factorial and cluster analysis. These analysis aim to highlight the problems presented by patients and the tools used by psychologists. In particular, four intervention areas were detected: two related to relational problems, one in somatic problems, and a fourth related to the need of reassurance about self-concerns or the need to complain about personal condition. In the first three cases expressive interventions were used while, in the fourth case, supportive ones.
