Abstract
With the decree of 23 February 2022, the Italian Ministry of Health included the plants Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis, ayahuasca (a derivative product of the above plants) and harmaline and harmine (alkaloids contained in Banisteriopsis caapi) in the Schedule I of Presidential Decree 309/1990, the so-called Consolidated Law governing drugs and psychotropic substances. The analysis of the decree will form the basis for an investigation into the vectors of drug policies and will call into question the logical and scientific consistency of the system envisaged by the conventions, in particular of its schedules.
