Abstract

This article provides a concise analysis of the historical and contemporary relationships between liberal and radical traditions in criminology, with a specific focus on the United States. The author suggests that, despite some undeniable elements of proximity between the two approaches (particularly in light of the American punitive revolution of the last four decades), significant contrasts remain between them - specifically in the fields of genealogy, epistemology, and political strategy.
